Dr Birinchi Kumar Das officially appointed as First VC of Bhattadev University in Bajali

Pathsala: With the upgradation work of the Bajali College of Pathsala to Bhattadev University, Dr. Birinchi Kumar Das was officially appointed as the Vice Chancellor of the new University in the state of Assam on Tuesday.

There has been all round excitement among the students soon after Dr. Birinchi Kumar Das headed towards the dice to address the occasion.

Earlier, on June 16, 2019, in view of upgrading Bajali College of Pathsala to Bhattadev University, a citizens’ meet urged the authority to continue 10+2 level in the new university.

The meeting held in the digital hall of the college on Saturday discussed various issues related to education in the university.

The meeting thanked the government for appointing a new Vice-Chancellor in Bhattadev University. The meeting further demanded to redress the various problems in the internal administration of the college and to improve the internal environment of the college. The meeting urged the State Education Minister and Vice-Chancellor to maintain its name and fame. The meeting decided to submit a memorandum to Chancellor Prof Jagadish Mukhi and the State Education Minister to continue the 10+2 stage in the university. A committee was formed to prepare the memorandum.

It is to be noted that Bajali College was established on August 16, 1955.

The initial mission of the College was to spread the ray of higher education in preservation and creation of knowledge and to inculcate scientific temperament among the rural populace besides providing accessibility of higher education to women of the area.

But very soon, it became one of the leading co-educational institutions imparting education right from HS to PG level. Now it aspires to take the leading part in the over-all development of higher education in the form of teaching, training, consultancy, research and extension services to the stakeholders.

To meet with the challenges of globalization of education, the college strives to re-orient and reshape its programmes to make the present system more relevant and career oriented with a focus on quality and excellence.
