SHILLONG, Jan 6: The delay of Municipal Board to speed up the process in laying the pipelines in newly constructed draige system at Motphran, GS Road has caused a lot of inconvenience for pedestrian and market goers alike.

Speaking to a couple of mediapersons here on Wednesday, assistant executive engineer PWD (Roads) NH Sub-Division, Shillong Y Lyttan said, “The executive engineer PWD (Road) Rilang Lyngdoh have already sent a letter to the Municipal board last year regarding this matter since we are only awaiting for the pipes to be laid and we have also communicated with them on the progress for working which is being done.”

He informed that the PWD have completed the construction of the draige system and are only waiting for the Municipal board to finish laying the pipelines and when that is done they can start to recover the open drains.

“While constructing the drain we have also provisioned two chambers in which one will function as a drain and the other as a utility chamber for the pipelines,” he said adding that most of the time when there is a leakage from the pipes the water would normally spill over to the roads and with this the spilling will stop.

“Everything from our side has been done now we are only waiting for the pipes to be laid by the Municipal board,” he said.
