Drive against illicit country made liquor in Tezpur, Five Apprehended

Tezpur: Drive against illicit liquor is still on various parts of the state, on Saturday, a team under the supervision of Bebejia Police officer in charge Sarat Das, Assam Police personnel destroyed around 5000 litres of illicit country-made liquors in areas of Gaghara and Nappam Tea Estates under Sonitpur District.

As per sources, Bebejia Police personnel launched the drive against illicit country-made liquors in the region.

Following the hooch tragedy in several parts of Golaghat and Jorhat since past one month, Bebejia Police had taken an initiative to sensitize the tea garden workers in Gaghara and Nappam tea estates about the menace of drinking country made liquors.

The officials also talking about the drive before the media had stated that such kind of drive is a step to enlighten the tea garden workers to shun their habit of consuming illicit country made liquors.

It may also be mentioned that the police personnel had also apprehended five persons in connection to the incident.
