Driver, handyman of oil tanker abducted, ransom demanded

JOYSAGAR, April 28: Suspected militants abducted a petrol depot employee from Simaluguri area of Sivasagar on Friday. On the other hand, as per information, a petrol tanker was stolen by a group of suspected militants and later the tanker was left about 20 km away from Simaluguri. But the driver of the oil tanker and the handyman were kept in the captivity of the militant group. The driver was identified as one Tularam Buragohain of Jorhat. Sources informed that Tularam was engaged as a driver in RS Agency, a petrol-diesel depot in Jorhat. Sources also informed that the suspected militant group has allegedly demanding around Rs 20 lakh for release of the driver and the handyman from the owner of the petrol depot.
