Drug mece: AASU protests across State

DIBRUGARH, May 13: The District Unit of All Assam Students Union and All Dibrugarh Students’ Union took out a bike rally on May 13, which passed through the main thoroughfare of the town demanding stern punishment of drug peddlers.

The Dibrugarh police have launched operation against the drug peddlers and users in the District following media reports on Drug mece. The AASU also took out a torch rally on May 11, and extended their full support to police action against drug smugglers. The student organization also urged the police department to continue their operation and b all those involved in the nefarious activities.

JORHAT: The Jorhat unit of AASU took out a bike rally in protest against drug smuggling here on Friday. Hundreds of AASU activists shouted slogan against the administration. Later they submitted a memorandum to Governor through Deputy Commissioner of Jorhat. “Illegal drugs have posed a serious threat to the future of the up-coming generation, so the administration should take immediate step against it,” said AASU leade Kukil Das.

GOLAGHAT: The All Assam Students’ Union’s Golaghat district committee carried out a bike rally demanding the curbing of drugs use and sale and later staged a dhar near the Deputy Commissioner’s office on Friday.

Talking to media persons, their president and secretary Mridul Saikia and Abhibartan Goswami, said that the use of ganja, hard drugs and alcoholic substances were increasing in Golaghat district affecting the society. They asked the district administration and police to stop the use of drugs, ganja and alcoholic substance in Golaghat district.

The activists of the organisation shouted slogans demanding to stop the sale of drugs, ganja and alcohol and to deal with the drug peddlers in the district. It has been noted that illegal drug business has been running in various place of Golaghat district.
