Drug peddler apprehended at Longding

Itanagar, June 23: Longding district police have apprehended a female drug peddler from her rented house at Godown Colony the district headquarters on Thursday and recovered opium smeared cloths weighing 620 gram (approx). The drug peddler has been identified as Chalik Phuksa of Kolam village under Lazu circle of Tirap district.

Based on the information received from reliable sources about the presence of the drugpeddler, a team of police led by Inspector Topha Wangsu and SI Chopgang Lowang conducted a raid at suspected rent house at around 7.40 pm, an official release informed here today.

During the search operation, several packets of opium were found hidden in the bucket of local rice bear, which were wrapped in plastic sheets.

The drugs peddler has been booked under section 18 of the NDPS Act.

S I Lowang informed that the police were closely observing here movement since last two months.

'She has been supplying the opium from Tirap to Longding through her agent on regular basis, and comes to Longding for collection of payment on regular basis. And we were closely monitoring her movement to catch her red handed, and this time we did, he said.
