Drug peddlers arrested

TINSUKIA April 16: The Makum police in Tinsukia district led by its officer-in-charge Bhaskar Saikia arrested 5 persons including three drug peddlers from different locations. But the main culprit managed to escape. 16 grams of brown sugar were recovered. Besides, one Alto car and a Pulsar bike from their possession were seized on Sunday.
According to Superintendent of Tinsukia Police Mugdha Jyoti Dev Mahanta, based on tip-off, the Makum police conducted raid at the house of Nilutpal Gogoi of Hapjan TE staff quarter, Makum  and found 6 persons out of which 4 were found consuming suspected brown sugar while NilutpalGogoi managed to give a slip to the police. Later based on the leads provided by one of the accused Meer Afridi Hussain, police picked up another two drug peddlers Md Aneez and Amod Shah of Ushamati, Doomdooma. Hunt is on to nab Nilutpal. The arrested persons are Jayanta Baruah (22) and Dipankar Tanti (25) both from Margherita, Amod Shah (36) and Md Aneez (23) both from Doomdooma and Meer Afradi Hussain (21) from Makum.
