Drug peddlers arrested

JOYSAGAR, June 27: Two suspected drug peddlers were arrested by Sivasagar Police on Tuesday from Halwating area of Sivasagar. Led by Sivasagar ASP B. Dewri, the drug peddlers were held along with narcotic tablets and brown sugar packets from their possession.

Meanwhile, Sivasagar Police were able to apprehend as many as four notorious drug peddlers from Sivasagar and Nazira town a week earlier. During this operation, the police team recovered some injections and drug tablets from the possession of the drug peddlers. Sources revealed that a gang of drug peddlers was active in Sivasagar, Nazira, Gelakey, Sonari and Amguri town and this gang had connections with Nagaland-based smugglers and were in the drugs trade in Upper Assam since a long period of time.
