Drug smuggler in cop's net

SILCHAR, May 10: Prime accused in Rongpur drug case, Mohit Ahmed Barlaskar, has been arrested yesterday by Rongpur patrol post police from his house at Division 4, Majargram. Mohit Ahmed, 41, alias Dipu was the prime suspect in this case. Police have seized eight grams of marijua, a pistol, a Santro car, Maruti WagonR and an Enfield Bullet along with cash Rs. 67,750 from his house.

Upon interrogation by the police, Dipu revealed the mes of two other accused in the case, Masuk Uddin Laskar, 39 and Alauddin Mazumdar as a result police could arrest them too. Sources revealed that Dipu was very poor and sudden change in his life style was seen with suspicion by his neighbours. They were surprised at his lavish life style.

Rongpur patrol post police was led by their in-charge Utpal Chanda. Armed police officers reached Dipu’s house and knocked several times. When he did not respond, they had to struggle their way into his house. He was arrested from the first floor of his house. After initial interrogation at Rongpur police station and the three culprits were produced before the court. The court has sent them to jail. Owing to the immediate action taken by the police force, five more persons have already been in the same case. Out of the eight persons arrested, one of them is a woman. Sources reveal that Dipu was the mastermind behind this case and so it is indeed a big achievement for police.

Residents of Rongpur are worried about this case and have been showing concern that how Rongpur became a centre for alcoholics and anti-social elements. They are happy since Dipu and his partners-in-crime have been arrested. Police also added that when Dipu was being arrested, it appeared to them that he is intoxicated, under the influence of drug. Persons residing at Rongpur firmly believe that only police can wipe out such crimes and crimils.
