Silchar: Dr S Lakshmanan, the Deputy Commissioner of Cachar as the District Magistrate, in exercise of the power conferred under section 52(I) of Assam Excise Act, 2000, has declared closure of all liquor licensed premises in Cachar district on October 19 on Friday for preservation of public peace in the ensuing ‘Bijaya Dashami’.

All country spirit shops, IMFL, warehouses, bonded warehouses, IFL, ‘ON’ or ‘OFF’ beer, ‘ON’, club, ‘ON’ licenses will remain closed on Friday and no sale or service or consumption of liquor in licensed premises will be allowed on the that day.

A copy of the order has been sent to the Commissioner and Secretary, government of Assam, Excise Department, the Commissioner of Excise, Assam, Housefed Complex, the Superintendent of Police, Cachar, the Sub Divisional Officer, Civil, Lakhipur, the Circle Officer, Silchar Sadar, Katigorah, Udharbond, Lakhipur and Sonai, the Inspector of Excise, Silchar Sadar, Borkhola, and Lakhipur Circle and all the liquor license holders of Cachar district.
