DU postgraduate students submit memorandum

Dibrugarh, June 8: The Dibrugarh University Postgraduate Students’ Union (DUPGSU) has submitted a memorandum to the Vice-Chancellor, Dr Alak Kumar Buragohain pointing out some of their long-felt demands.
The demands include, amongst others, to construct more hostels to accommodate the students who, in large numbers are forced to stay in a private rented houses despite the fact that DU has constitutiolly been declared as a residential university. Referring security aspects of the female students in the university, the DUPGSU demanded appointment of a sizable number of women security guards in the university campus and to introduce a 24-hours free helpline for emergency. Claiming blatant irregularities in the construction of infra-structural facilities, the PG Students’ Union of the university urged the authorities to initiate stern steps against those contractors who are involved in such corrupt practices.
