DULIAJAN, Aug 1: The 47th foundation day of Duliajan College was observed on Saturday in the college premises. In the morning as per programme, the college flag was hoisted by Dr Amrit Kumar Gogoi, Principal of Duliajan College. After iuguration of flag hoisting, smirti tarpan was done by Dr Surendra th Gogoi, Vice-Principal of Duliajan College. This year Duliajan College had dedicated the 47th foundation day in memory of Dr Prahlad Rajkhowa, eminent social activist of Duliajan. In the morning, the portrait of Dr.Rajkhowa had garlanded by his son Prasanta Rajkhowa. Before this programme, the Duliajan College fraternity and guests paid one minute silence as a mark of respect to former President Dr APJ Abdul Kalam and former DoNER Minister Bijoy Krish Handique.
The aim of the programme was elaborated by Dr SN Gogoi, Vice-Principal of Duliajan College and the welcome address was given by Dr Amrit Kumar Gogoi, Principal of Duliajan College. Dr Rajiv Handique, Professor of History Department, Gauhati University, delivered the memorial lecture on the topic ‘Colonial effects and present Assam’. The entire memorial lecture programme was anchored by Dr Dipak Gogoi, Associate Professor of Assamese Department, Duliajan College.
Purkanta Hazarika, founder Principal of Duliajan College, Bhupen Saikia, former vice-president of Axam Xahitya Xabha, Jagat Baruah, retired teacher of Kathalguri HS School, Lilly Hazarika, former headmistress of Duliajan Balika Vidyapith, Gopi Tamuly, retired Vice-Principal of Duliajan College, Anil Gogoi, organizing secretary of AASU Central Committee, Mrigen Gogoi, Kak Bharali, Mukti Gogoi, Prem Bahadur Chetry and many other dignitaries along with teachers and students were present in the programme. The programme concluded successfully with the song Oh mur apur desh.
