Dulung Subansiri Mahotsav gets underway

Lakhimpur,  Dec 27 : The Dulung Subansiri Mahatsov got under way on Sunday with a three-day programme at North Lakhimpur Bogidi.

  The programme is aimed at protecting and developing  wildife of Dulung forest range. Various cultural and sports programmes were held on the opening day and more than 200 mini-stalls were installed to provide visitors with  a variety of commodities including ethnic food, clothes,  flowers and books.

The programme started with iuguration of a magazine related to the history of Dulung forest followed by chorus competition and cultural programme by local singers.  Former Congress MLA Bharat rah took part in the programme and spoke about the issues related to the development of the forest range and in the evening a special programme of poems was held where famous poets from different parts of Assam, including Nilim Konwar, took part.

Expedition programmes, including rifting and trekking have been arranged on the remaining days. Moreover, district-level volleyball and body building competition will also be held.
