E-mail cited by Rahul Gandhi has no connection with the fighter jet contract: Anil Ambani

Guwahati: At a time when Rahul Gandhi is claiming that he has the leaked e-mail on the Rafale deal and the proof that Anil Ambani had prior information on the deal, the Reliance Defence said that the 'proposed MoU' mentioned in a leaked email was actually about Airbus Helicopter. They also made it clear that the email has no connection with the fighter jet contract.

Reliance Defence Spokesperson said, "Purported email being referred by the Congress Party is regarding the discussion between Airbus and Reliance Defence regarding Civil and Defence Helicopter Programs under 'Make in India".

Reliance Defence stated that the discussion on a proposed memorandum of understanding (MoU) was clearly with reference to cooperation between Airbus Helicopter and Reliance and "It had 'no connection' whatsoever with the government to government agreement between France and India for 36 Rafale aircraft."

As is quite frequently seen these days, Rahul Gandhi has been attacking Prime Minister Narendra Modi over alleged corruption in the Rafale deal constantly and as the latest allegation, Rahul even showed a copy of an email citing that it has a connection with Anil Ambani's visit to France before the Prime Minister's visit. He had also alleged that the email was about Rafale.

In response to this, Anil Ambani-led Reliance Group company said that Airbus Helicopter has partnered with Mahindra and the partnership is for the Military Helicopter Program. Moreover, the MoU for Rafale aircraft was signed between France and India on 25 January 2016 and not in April 2015.

It further added that the facts are being deliberately twisted by the Congress while ignoring reality.
