e-PDS yet to be function in Lohit

Itagar, April 2: The much awaited e-PDS with the purpose of making more efficient, transparent and update the Public Distribution System (PDS) in Lohit district is yet to be functiol. The digitization of the system which was supposed to complete last year was inorditely delayed for sheer negligence of the government in pursuing the Becon Alytic Limited Bhopal to install the software. “Basic prerequisite infrastructure needed for the e-PDS with counter is already done. In our endeavour we have left no stone unturned to make the system online as e-PDS is need of the hour to ensure genuine beneficiaries and could check pilferage of PDS items. It also helps us to implement any central flagship programme including tiol Food Security Ordince (NFSO) 2013 in transparent and smooth method which in fact is still waiting”, discloses DF&CSO M K Chokroborty when enquired about its non-functioning.

The government of India has made mandatory to create e -PDS in every district with an intention to make the PDS system more efficient and transparent, says the department sources.

Meanwhile, after bifurcation in Lohit has trimmed down its PDS’s APL monthly quota from 3780 to 1630 quintals for Tezu, Sunpura, Wakro block, however msai still receives 2150 quintals.

Finding much shortage the Food and Civil Supply department has determined to quash all temporary permit system to avoid unusual food crisis in the district, sources added.
