East Kameng, West Kameng reeling under darkness

Itagar, Jan 8: East and West Kameng districts have been reeling under complete darkness since January 5 following disruption in power supply in 132kV, Balipara-Khuppi Feeder line caused by system breakdown at Balipara Sub Station, informed Bomdila division Executive Engineer today. Power supply is likely to remain disrupted until and unless NEEPCO fixes the fault(s), he said. According to the engineer, all out efforts were made by the power department to restore power supply but all their efforts were in vain. “The lightning arrestor in 132/33kV Sub Station at Khuppi maintained by NEEPCO exploded when the 132kV line was charged on the same day,” the engineer said.

The 132kV line was again re-charged at around 5.15 pm on Saturday but the line could not stand, reportedly due to fault in tower line, he informed. Expressing helplessness in restoring power supply, the engineer requested the executive engineer of SLDC to take the matter with the higher authority. He appealed to the affected consumers to bear with the inconvenience.
