FROM A CORRESPONDENT

BOKAKHAT, June 13: The proposal for Echo-Sensitive Zone covering nearby villages of Kaziranga tiol park (KNP) has been vehemently opposed by the public who attended a hearing organized by the Director of KNP at Kohora Convention Centre on Saturday. The Echo-Development Committees of KNP, various socio-economic organizations, AASU, AJYCP and wildlife organizations criticized the role of the KNP authority who has been trying to create an uncertainty regarding the future of the ethnic people of Kaziranga. Everybody who attended the hearing opposed this and demanded cancellation of the proposal. The KNP authority has been urged to ascertain the safety of the wild animals as well as the people inhabiting in the areas near KNP since a long time. The negative aspects of the proposed echo-sensitive zone will affect the socio-economic growth of the region and intensify the man-animal conflict, they said.
