ECI announces special summary revision of photo electoral rolls

ITAGAR, Sept 20: The Election Commission of India (ECI) has announced Special Summary Revision of Photo Electoral Rolls with January 1 next year as qualifying date for which the process for draft publication of electoral rolls has been scheduled to be started from October 1 next and would be completed by January 11 next, the date for fil publication of electoral rolls.

In this connection, Aruchal Pradesh Chief Electoral Officer Kaling Tayeng convened a meeting with all the Deputy Commissioners who are also the district electoral officers, and directed them to launch the programme on October 1 next in entire state by involving all the stake holders including youth, female electors, representatives from civil societies, an official release informed.  The ECI has also fixed two special campaign dates on October 9 and 23 next.

Special emphasis would be taken for enrolment of new electors who attain 18 years of age on January 1, 2017, women and persons with disability, the release said.

The theme of the Commission of this revision is 'No voter to be left behind'. Focus also would be on replacement of black and white EPIC cards with PVC cards. The Commission would also appoint Electoral Roll Observers to oversee the entire process of revision, the release added.
