Education awareness programme held at Retzoul

Haflong, June 14: To bring awareness among the school children of Retzoul about education, the Hmar Students’ Association (HSA) upper Retzowl unit in association with HSA NC Hills and Karbi Anglong joint HQ organized one-day education awareness programme at the community hall at Retzoul, some 16 km from Haflong on Wednesday.

Fleming Rupsi Shylla, Executive Member, N C Hills Autonomous Council in-charge education, attended the programme as the chief guest while David Keivom, president, N C Hills Indigenous Students’ Forum attended as the guest of honor and N K ncy Darngawn, T V Lalringum Thiek, Dr Solomon Faihriem and Josep V Tuolor attended as the resource persons.

Fleming Rupsi Shylla, speaking on the occasion, appreciated the organizers for organizing such educatiol programme, particularly for the children of rural schools with the aim to enhance the standard of education in rural areas and also assured to give incentives to the students who come out successful in their HSLC examition from next year. He appealed to the teachers, guardians and also the student to work hard to make their future bright.

David Keivom, president, N C Hills Indigenous Students’ Forum, appealed to the executive member to extend assistance to the people of Retzuol in enhancing the education standard in the rural area. He said that the people of Retzoul were in need of a better community hall in the village and needed help from the NCHAC.

Earlier, the president and general secretary Hmar Students’ Association (HSA) upper Retzowl unit felicitated the chief guest and the guest of honour with the Hmar traditiol shawl.
