Education scam: CSWO to move court

FROM OUR REPORTER

SHILLONG, Jan 12: To eradicate corruption from the State the CSWO has called upon all like-minded people to join them in their crusade against graft and injustice.

“We have seen that there is plenty of oppression in the State especially towards poor and the under-privileged but despite cases being registered against such acts, no actions are initiated against the lawbreakers.  We have been following such cases but we need the support from the people to achieve our goal,” CSWO president Agnes Kharshiing told reporters here today.

She informed that their movement will be known as ‘People’s Mission’ and that they will soon organize a rally against various injustices.

“We request the public to join us and contribute with ideas to bring changes. We must stop corruption and oppression prevailed in the State,” she said.

She said that the CSWO has decided to move court in connection with the scam in education department.

“We have decided to move court first on the education scam and the illegal eviction of villagers in New Shillong Township,” she said.

According to her, only the poor and downtrodden are being targeted while the well to do and influential are always evading law.

“We have witnessed the illegal eviction of villagers in New Shillong Township where even the report of the FSL has proved that the land document is tampered,” she said.

She also alleged that Government servants or public servants hardly follow the rule of law but some new laws have been brought.

“The existing acts are also amended without public consultations, without proper debate in the Assembly,” she said. She said that development schemes of the government never reach the beneficiaries; it only benefits those who are close to politicians, officials and certain traditiol heads.

She further said people should not keep quiet and should unitedly come out against such injustice.
