Efforts on to repair Tangla-Bhergaon road before Governor's visit

TANGLA, March 24: Tangla residents have heaved a sigh of relief due to the combined efforts of the local administration and the Tangla Town Committee (TTC) to clear the roadside garbage along with earth filling and sand gravelling the dilapidated water-logged Tangla-Bhergaon road just ahead of Assam Governor Jagdish Mukhi’s  maiden visit to Udalguri district on March 27.
Days ahead of the visit, sources said the Tangla Town Committee had roped in workers to co-ordite the repair work of Tangla-Bhergaon road stretch in Tangla town, the expenses of which were being borne by a local contractor who had been allotted money for the construction of a portion of the road.  Residents along the Tangla-Bhergaon road said the road should be maintained properly. “Though we are happy that local authorities have woken from their deep slumber due to the proposed visit of Governor,” Bappi Sah, a local shopkeeper said.
 When contacted, TTC officials also confirmed that the repair and cleaning works was due to the Governor’s visit. The Governor will be taking part in the three-day long Chaturveda Shataka Paraya Gyanyaj fromMarch 25.
