Eight injured as Tata Sumo overturns

TANGLA, May 4: Eight persons were injured, two of them seriously, when a speeding Tata Sumo vehicle turned turtle at the Mangaldai-Bhutiachang road in Ratanpur area under Tangla Police Station of Udalguri on Thursday noon.

The speeding passenger-carrying Tata Sumo (AS01EC0196) was on its way from Tangla to Panery at around 12 pm when it overturned as the driver lost control. The injured were immediately rushed to Tangla CHC. Those injured, which included three students of Tangla College, are Sima Thakur (18), Sangita Bhuyan (38), Rashmi Baishya (22), Ram Bahadur Chetry (28), Abhigyan Bhuyan (15), liba Khodal (20), Jiten Kurmi (27) and a two-year old infant. The driver of the vehicle, Jiten Kurmi (27) has been referred to Mangaldai Civil Hospital while Sangita Bhuyan (38), who sustained severe head injury, has been rushed to a private nursing home in Guwahati. The other injured are undergoing treatment at Tangla CHC.
