Elaborate traffic arrangement made in Tinsukia for Durga Puja

TINSUKIA, October 5: An elaborate traffic arrangement has been planned by traffic police of Tinsukia to cope with the traffic rush during the ensuing Puja days. Detailing the steps before media persons, Traffic Inspector Mustakul Haque said that all entry points to Tinsukia town would be closed for auto rickshaws and Magic vehicles for three days from 2 pm onwards while all long distance buses must leave Tinsukia before 6 pm.

Admitting the lapses on the part of police personnel to contain traffic jam and mece created by auto rickshaws, Haque categorically stated that a long-term coordited planning was needed to regulate the traffic in Tinsukia and assured the media persons that after Puja he would try to streamline the entire traffic of Tinsukia town. He regretted that repeated violation of traffic rules by conscious citizens added further traffic chaos in some arterial roads of the town.

The traffic violation is so extensive that among all major townships, the people of Tinsukia pay highest amount fine for violation of entry, parking and helmets. A whopping amount of Rs 6,42,900 was realized as fine in the month of July and Rs 8,77,700 in August, while September witnessed further increase in fine realization, said Haque.
