Eminent litterateur Dr Nagen Saikia honoured

Dibrugarh, June 5: Shruti Shilpi Samaj and DHSK College jointly organized an event to honour noted litterateur and former president of Axam Xahitya Xabha, Dr. Nagen Saikia with the title of ‘Sahitya Bhaskar’ at the premises of DHSK College. In the event, three historical books authored by the acclaimed writer, journalist and former professor of DDR College, Chabua, Tarun Kumar Gogoi were also released. While his first book titled Itihaas aaru Sinta Prabah was released by Dr. Saikia, the second book written by him titled Matak Janajatir Samaj aaru Sanskriti was launched by the recipient of Gnanpith award from Odisha, Dr. Pratibha Ray. The third book of Gogoi titled Chabuar Somu Itihaas was released by the Vice-Chancellor of Srimanta Shankardev University, Dr. Kandarpa Kumar Deka.

All three dignitaries praised Gogoi’s historical analysis and explanations, and also the noted author’s relentless effort to project the cultural history of a region in such a true form. The event was also graced by the Xatradhikar of Auniati Xatra, Majuli, Sri Sri (Dr.) Pitambara Deva Goswami who released a book based on the life and works of Dr Saikia titled Sahitya Bhaskar. Among the other luminaries present on the occasion included famed poet and professor of Dibrugarh University, Dr Karabi Deka Hazarika and Principal of DHSK College, Dr Sashi Saikia.
