Emphasis on encouraging scientific observation among students

Donkamokam, Feb 28: On the occasion of Samson Sing Engti’s 69th  death anniversary on Tuesday, Science Day was also simultaneously observed at Bhanu Bhakta tya Munch Bhanu Chowk, Mugasong in West KA district, which was organized by Assam Science Society, Tumpreng Branch.

On the occasion, Harsing Rongpi, District Program Officer (DPO), SSA Karbi Anglong, attended the programme as chief guest and he stressed encouraging scientific observation and giving explation to students from an early age. “Climate change, merits and demerits of construction of dams, use of medicines and their impact, ecosystem and the surrounding environment should be thoroughly explained to the children from childhood,” he said. “Sometimes, while educating students we need both theory and practical training simultaneously. To make them more interested, animation should be encouraged. Children are all talented, make them good citizens,” he added.

The programme began by unfurling of flag by Mohendra Chandra Bordoloi, president Assam Science Society, Tumpreng Branch followed by lighting of candles before the portrait of the great Karbi leader who is also regarded as the father of Karbi Anglong district.

Various competitions were also held among school students.
