GAURISAGAR, Nov 30: Remains of Spring: A ga village in the No Man’s Land, an English edition of popular Assamese novel Aoleangar Jui written by noted novelist Jibon Krish Goswami (Anurag Mahanta) and translated from Assamese by Manjeet Baruah, Assistant Professor, Jawarharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, was release at Gaurisagar on Tuesday at a function organized by Kalpadroom, a socio-cultural organization and in association with Gaurisagar Press Club at the conference hall of Gaurisagar Bahumukhi Prakalpa Bhavan.
Dr. Saumarjyoti Mahanta, noted columnist and Principal, Sibsagar Commerce College, unveiled the English edition of the novel published by Oxford University Press. Releasing the book, he appreciated novelist Jibon Krish Goswami for his writing capabilities and theme of the novel. He opined that good literature could be borne from conflict.
In the meeting, Gaurisagar Press Club and Kalpadroom separately felicitated Jibon Krishan Goswami for his literary achievement with gamusa, seleng, safura and citation. A poetry book Mritunjoy Gun composed by noted poet Jogneswar Gogoi of Khamukh Tipomia village and Pratiksha Borah was released by Dr. Jibon Kalita, Associated Professor, zira College. The dignitaries who attended the meeting were Dr. Dhiren Sarmah, retired Joint Director of Health Services, Sivasagar, Muhi Kanta th, Principal, Gaurisagar Junior College, Dr.Manjit Gogoi, Principal, Jhanji Hem th Sarmah College, Suresh Borah, noted social worker and president, Gaurisagar Sakha Xahitya Xabha, Anda Baruah , president , Senior Citizen Forum, Gaurisagar, Podum Kr Saikia, president, Gaurisagar Press Club and Monuj Kumar Lahon, president, Kalpadroom.
Earlier, Rajib Dutta, secretary of Gaurisagar Press Club and Tapan Kumar th anchored the whole programme while Hori Krish Neog, secretary of Kalpadroom rrated briefly about the objective of the meeting. In the meeting, tribute was paid to intertiolly acclaimed litterateur Mamoni Roisom Goswami on her 5th death anniversary.
Muhi Kanta th delivered a lecture in the life and literary achievement of Mamoni Roisom Goswami. The gathering observed one-minute silence to pay homage their beloved Mamoni baideo.
