Enhancement of literary pension sought

Morigaon, April 24: Asom Sahittik Kalyan Parishad has appealed to the Chief Minister of Assam to increase the rate of monthly literary pension awarded to litterateurs. In a press release, the organization said that the government should increase the fincial assistance to Rs. 10,000 from the current Rs 4,000. Parishad’s president bakanta Bordoloi and secretary Jaganth Pathak said that the pensioners cannot to sustain their families with such a meager amount. They cited the hike in prices of essential commodities.  The organization also thanked the Chief Minister for providing fincial assistance to noted litterateur Dr. Amalendu Guh and others.
