Haflong: With the prayer for setting up of enquiry team to look into the uncovered fixing and replacement of ballot boxes in the recently concluded election to the 12th North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council Constituencies, Samarjit Haflongbar, candidate of 20-Gunjung Constituency, submitted a memorandum to the Chief Electoral Officer, Assam State Election Commission, on Wednesday.

This was disclosed by Samarjit Haflongbar at a press meet held at his residence on Thursday. Addressing the media persons, Haflong bar alleged that there were different colours and sizes of ballot boxes in the counting hall.

Boxes packed in particular polling stations had excess ballot papers too which did not have the signature of the presiding officers concerned. He demanded that the Members of Autonomous Council (MAC) elected through alleged fraudulent means should be disqualified and exemplary punishment should be awarded to presiding officers and staff concerned. Haflongbar has sought proper inquiry into the matter.
