Ensure early completion of highway work: Contractors' body

ITAGAR, Jan 6: The All Aruchal Contractor’s Welfare Association (AACWA) today urged the Nirjuli division of the PWD (highway) to ensure early completion of work on the Itagar-Banderdewa stretch of the tiol highway.

Expressing concern over the dust thrown up by activities such as laying of sand and stone chips, the association said though the department should sprinkle water on the road twice a day, it is not doing so. Meanwhile, it urged groups concerned to ask that bills against particular schemes should not be released, instead of seeking a halt on payment of all contractors’ bills, ‘since all bills are not fake or duplicate.’

Many contractors have completed their works and their payment should be released, it said.
