Essay writing competition on global warming by Kokrajhar Govt College Alumni Association

Kokrajhar: The Kokrajhar Govt College Alumni Association in collaboration with Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Kokrajhar Govt College jointly organized an essay writing competition on ‘Role of students in preventing Global Warming’. They also carried out tree plantation programme cum prize distribution ceremony of essay writing competition on the occasion of World Environment Day at the college campus as well as at the Kokrajhar District Sports Association compound recently.

Principal of the Kokrajhar Govt College Dr Banabina Brahma initiated the plantation programme where members of Alumni Association, faculties and students participated. About 100 saplings were planted.

Later, a prize distribution ceremony was held. Mohima Basumatary (II Semester Department of English) was awarded the 1st prize and a cash of Rs 3000 along with a certificate, Alisa Basumatary (II Semester, Department of English) received the 2nd prize of Rs 2000 along with a certificate while Amprasad Sharma (II Semester, Department of Chemistry) stood 3rd in the competition and received a cash prize of Rs 1000 and a certificate.

BTC Executive Member Doneswar Goyary graced the prize distribution ceremony as a chief guest and handed over the prizes to the winners. In his speech, the chief guest appreciated the initiative and suggested the students to own the responsibility of taking care of the planted saplings as well. He also urged the students to study hard and take advantage of Govt supports for higher studies as well as in the civil services examinations.

The meeting was addressed by Benudhar Basumatary and the principal of Kokrajhar Govt College Dr. Banabina Brahma. Sangrang Brahma anchored the programme while Manaj Kumar Brahma gave the vote of thanks in the meeting.
