Ethnic fest builds bridge of unity in Gohpur

Gohpur, April 8: Jati Jagushthiyo Sahitya Sanskritik Bikash Mancha, in collaboration with the ethnic tribes of Gohpur, organized a two-day long ethnic festival in Gohpur for the second time. On Saturday, flag hoisting was done by Sidanda Hazarika, president of Jati Jagushthiyo Sahitya Sanskritik Bikash Mancha, and gen Konwar, president of celebration committee. A multilingual poetry session was held. The session was conducted by Bijaya Dutta Hazarika, president of Gohpur Lekhika Samaroh. Poetry book Moi krishak kanya by Madhusmita Chomua Baruah was unveiled by poet Banshi Borah, while Dubiar bihu etihaas aru bortoman was unveiled by poet Sabita Konwar.

A semir was held on the topic of ethnic tribes and communities of Assam and their culture in presence of noted persolities of every community. In the evening, bhao Bharat Juddho was staged. A colourful cultural procession was taken out by the celebration committee where people of various ethnic communities of Assam took part in their traditiol attire. The souvenir Samanya edited by Ranjan Kakati and Amlan Jyoti Saikia was unveiled by poet gen Konwar. A colourful cultural night ‘Samanyar Anixa’ was held on the concluding day on Sunday.
