Eviction drive in Ledo

MARGHERITA, Sept 5: Eviction drive was conducted by the Railway authority, Assam Police and GRP personnel at Ledo area on Monday.

The Railway authority had given eviction notice to 174 shops and houses and today 10 shops were evicted when local people blocked the Ledo railway track for many hours in protest. After that, Margherita MLA Bhaskar Sharma and Chief Minister Sarbanda Sonowal intervened over phone and the eviction drive was stopped.
