Ex-JNUites, TUR to stage solidarity march in Shillong

SHILLONG, Feb 19: The alumni of Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) from Shillong along with Thma U Rangli (TUR) will be staging a protest and solidarity march over the row in the premier institute of the country at Fire Brigade ground, Shillong on Saturday. According to TUR, the meeting is to call attention to an undeclared emergency in the country. “…whereby our freedom is at stake and our rights to express our views and dissent, hold different opinions and practise different beliefs and ideologies is under attack,” the TUR said today. Urging citizens of Meghalaya to attend the meeting the TUR said that it is to make voices heard in defence of democracy.
