Dibrugarh, March 28: An ex-servicemen rally and widows and veer ris meet were organised at Bishnu Rabha Rangamanch (Community Hall) at Dibrugarh University recently. The aim of the rally was to address the grievances of the ex servicemen, widows and veer ris, and offer an opportunity to the army veterans to relive old memories.
The rally garnered a positive response and attracted more than 1000 ex-servicemen and their families. General Officer Commanding of Dao Division Major General Gajinder Singh addressed the gathering and appreciated the enthusiasm of the participants. He also urged the ex- servicemen to register themselves in the Directorate of Indian Army Veteran (DIAV) for resolution of their problems. He further informed the gathering that the year 2018 has been declared as the year of ‘Disabled Soldier’ by the Integrated Headquarters (Army), and a scheme introduced in the State for the same would be implemented soon enough. He, at the same time, also urged the ex servicemen to contribute and actively participate towards state and tion building.
On the occasion, various kinds of grievances of the ex-servicemen were addressed by various departments of the Army. The participants also visited various stalls in which they were briefed about employment opportunities in civil administration including Assam Police as well as the ongoing Railway Recruitment in 2018. The rally also hosted civil employment agencies planning to recruit up to 30 ex-servicemen on the spot. Later, the veer ris, widows and disabled soldiers were felicitated by Major Singh.
