GUWAHATI: The APCC (Assam Pradesh Congress Committee) has termed the opinion poll that was made public by various satellite channels and organizations on Sunday as a ‘concocted opinion’ built by the ruling alliance as its last-ditch effort to scuttle its inevitable defeat.
Speaking at a press conference at Rajiv Bhavan here on Monday, APCC general secretary and senior spokesperson Durga Das Boro said: “The exit poll results broadcasted on Sunday are misleading and imaginary ones concocted by the ruling alliance. The real outcome of the Lok Sabha poll will be known only on May 23. The opinion poll results are based on inaccurate information. This is a conspiracy on the part of those who extend financial support to the BJP. This is part of the plot to keep the share market shielded from the poor performance of the ruling alliance in the just-concluded Lok Sabha poll in the country. This is a conspiracy to stop the winning spirit of the Congress.”
Boro further said: “In 2004 also Atal Bihari Vajpayee coined the slogan ‘India shining’ to come to power, but failed. The Congress formed the government in that year. The BJP will meet the same fate this year also. We believe that the people want a non-BJP government. A non-BJP government will be formed at the Centre under the UPA.”
