Expectations run high ahead of Amit Shah's Kokrajhar visit

KOKRAJHAR, February 9: The Bodofa Nwgwr at Kokrajhar, where the 14th Bodoland Day will be observed on Wednesday, has been spruced up. The venue and Kokrajhar town have been beautified for BJP tiol president Amit Shah who will be present as chief guest.

Expectation runs high among the BPF leaders in the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) on Shah’s maiden visit to Kokrajhar. The BTC ruling party BPF  is expecting that the BJP president will deliver something new for the all-round development of the council region and Rs 421 crore, the central package will also be announced in a public gathering. After alliance with BPF and BJP, this is the first visit of Amit Shah in Kokrajhar, the headquarter of Bodoland. A mammoth security arrangement is in place to ensure smooth visit of the BJP president, who is expected to stay in Kokrajhar at least for one and half hour.

Talking to media persons, Executive Member of BTC, Rajib Kr Brahma said stage was all set to welcome the BJP president Amit Shah. He said the meeting would be significant as Shah is the top BJP leader to address in the public gathering after BPF’s pact with BJP. He said that over 50,000 people of the region would take part in the gathering. He also mentioned that the special central package was likely to be formally announced in the public rally.

A colorful cultural extravaganza will be showcased where Great India Bhojpuri Queen Kalpa Patowary, Bollywood comedian Sunil Pal, actress Cheta Das will perform. The BTC was created after an accord signed between the Government of India, Assam Government and the then BLT on February 10, 2003. After the alliance with BJP, the BPF will welcome the central BJP leaders on the eve of BTC accord day.
