Expedite TAH works: EKSWCO

FROM OUR CORRESPONDENT

Itagar, March 14: The highway department has been served a week's deadline to finish maintence work on Nechipu to Seppa road by the East Kameng Social Welfare and Cultural Organization (EKSWCO).

Members of the district's apex body met the highway chief engineer on Friday and appraised him to expedite the work of Trans-Aruchal Highway (TAH) in East Kameng. The organization has asked that all work including black topping be complete within a week. It claimed that the road is "left at mercy of ture and no maintence work is being carried out over the last couple of years. The highway authority has virtually abandoned it which makes the already deplorable road even worse".

Expressing displeasure over the reported slow progress of ongoing work within East Kameng district, the organization claimed that there is zero activity of work between Ba and Seppa as well.

The district parental organization however, expressed skepticism that the authority would fail to meet the deadline if the work carries on in the current pace.

It also said that inordite delay of formation cutting of the projects creates problems for commuters that serve as a lifeline for the district. The mega road project which began in 2013 has a deadline of completion within 2015, the EKSWCO claimed in a release.
