Extortion in AJYCP's me, leaders clear the air

DIBRUGARH, MARCH 7: Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuba Chatra Parishad (AJYCP), Dibrugarh District Committee, in an unequivocal term cautioned the leaders and members of a rival organization who are indulging in extortion in the district in the me of AJYCP, with dire consequence if the latter fails to refrain from such act.

“A bunch of miscreants headed by a very controversial youth leader has been trying to malign the me and image of AJYCP, set up on March 12, 1978, by extortion and other anti-social activities in the me of AJYCP,” AJYCP Dibrugarh District Committee president Banjit Das said.

On being informed by the owner and employees of a petrol pump of harkotiya that Tapas Das, posing as the president of AJYCP, liapool Regiol Committee, had collected few litres of petrol under duress, AJYCP secretary Homen Borgohain said Tapas Das was interrogated at his residence in front of his mother. Das though initially refused to accept the charge, later

admitted his guilt and also disclosed the me of the person who  hadinstructed him to do all such activities in the me of AJYCP.

Das’ mother expressed her disappointment over her son’s act and also confessed that her son was often pressurized by the leader of the organization to collect amount for him through such unethical ways. Both president and secretary of Dibrugarh District unit of AJYCP, have called upon the people to inform the local units of AJYCP immediately if such acts were repeated in any part of the district.
