Extortion racket busted

Itagar, March 17: The Capital police have arrested a gang of four persons, including two ladies who have been operating in and around the Capital Complex extorting money from big contractors in the me of awarding major works. A police team under the supervision of Itagar police station OC, Inspector T Bage, arrested the accused persons and recovered three lakh in cash, informed capital SP Seju P Kuruvilla in a statement here today.

An FIR has been registered at Itagar police station and further investigation is on, he said.

The arrested persons include Dubi Ete (Lollen), Bimpi Riddi, Tori Gadi who hails from harlagun and Tame Aking from Banderdewa, he said.

The Capital police also arrested a person in forgery case after a written complaint received from the chief minister’s office.

During investigation it was revealed that Kome Yangfo, proprietor of M/s N T Enterprise at Polo Colony has forged the sigture of the chief minister and tried to use the forged documents for getting supply orders.

A special police team was constituted under the supervision of Dy SP Bomge Kamduk, SDPO Itagar and he was arrested from Daporijo.

During investigation it has been revealed that Kome Yangfo is the Secretary (Information & Publicity) of AAPPTF and is the President of All harlagun Taxi Tourist Association, the SP said.

Meanwhile two persons were arrested for threatening government officials by Itagar police.

The arrested duo was identified as Charu Kani (38 yrs) and Yura Rajesh (26 years) both from Sangram.

An FIR has been lodged at Itagar PS and both the persons were taken in police custody, Kuruvilla added.
