Fake HP products seized, two held

DIBRUGARH, January 22: Dibrugarh Police along with the sleuths of Enforcers of Intellectual Property Rights (EIPR) raided few retail shops in Dibrugarh area and bbed two persons with fake HP products.

EIPR, a private detective agency hired by HP to investigate and complaint to the cops had found that the shops—Commercial Friend & Ultimate Solutions —have been dealing in huge quantity of fake products and is selling it to the end consumers. EIPR tipped off the cops and raided the unit. EIPR officials said, “End consumers have been cheated by these units as they sell fake or counterfeit products in the me of HP.”

Cops arrested two people, identified as Amitabh Sarkar & Manoj Khemka in connection with the case.

The raid was carried under the guidance of Dibrugarh SP Bir Vikram Gogoi. Products such as toners, packets etc were seized. The cops arrested the accused under section IPC 420/486 and 63 of Copyright Act.
