False SC certificate Case registered against Ward Commissioner

DOOMDOOMA, April 2: An FIR has been lodged at Tinsukia Police Station against Smt Tumpa Das, who was recently elected as ward commissioner from Ward No 8 of Doomdooma in the Town Committee polls, for allegedly producing fake Schedule Caste (SC) certificate.

Sources said that a case has been registered against her following a complaint filed by Krish Das, secretary of Arakhyan Bachao Sangharsh Samity on March 16.  Das in the complaint stated that Tumpa Das had collected the false certificate of SC on December 12 last year with an intention to contest the Doomdooma Town Committee (DDTC) polls from ward no 8 which is reserved for female candidate.

Meanwhile, in a hearing on March 20 against Complain No. 10/ASC/Complain/2015 by Additiol Deputy Commissioner (ADC), Banda Dutta Tamuli in presence of president, Tinsukia Sub-Division Schedule Caste, the statements of accused Tumpa Das and her father Mano Das were recorded.

During the hearing it came to light that Tumpa Das’s family came from Bangladesh after partition of India and they belong to Bengali Kayastha family. ADC Banda Dutta Tamuli asked Tinsukia Police to lodge an FIR against them and accordingly.
