Family becomes victim of witch hunting at Sonari

JOYSAGAR, July 18: A poor family belonging to the tea tribe community in Teokhabi village under Sonari PS was rescued by police on Tuesday night. The family members of tea garden labourers Ratan and Radha Mirdha were allegedly beaten and tortured by a mob on Tuesday evening under the suspicion of practising witchcraft. The villagers believed that the family was responsible for the ailments that some of the villagers were suffering from. While the mob was beating the family members, some conscious people called Sonari Police and police came and rescued the family.
