Farmer-scientist interaction programme at Gaurisagar

GAURISAGAR, November 21: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Sivasagar organized a farmer-scientist interaction programme at Charing Duarahpar under Gaurisagar Development Block on Friday.

In the programme Lead District Mager, Sivasagar, M. Setty, Lakheswar Mahanta, District Development Mager, BARD, Sivasagar, Dijumoni, Khargharia, SDAO (Horticulture), DAO Office, Khireswar Saikia, ADO, Gaurisagar Circle, Dr Khanindra Dev Goswami, SDO, District Veteriry Office and Dr. Phuleswar th, Programme Coorditor, KVK, Sivasagar were present as resource persons.

In the day-long programme, Lakheswar Mahanta, DDM, BARD highlighted the role of BARD in agriculture – its schemes viz., KCC, formation of farmer club, Farmers Producer Organization (FPO) while M. Setty, LDM, Sivasagar spoke about KCC – its importance, interest subvention, crop insurance and term loan.

Addressing the farmers, Dijumoni Khargharia, SDAO, Sivasagar and Khireswar Saikia, ADO, Gaurisagar Circle emphasized about ongoing programmes of the District Agriculture Office, Sivasagar and urged upon the farmers to avail the opportunities.

In the meeting Dr. Khanindra Dev Goswami, SDO, District Veteriry Office, Sivasagar gave a short note on the ongoing programmes under District Veteriry Department and how farmers could be benefitted from. Earlier Dr. Phuleswar th, Programme Coorditor of KVK welcomed the resource persons and farmers and highlighted the role of KVK, the present and past activities by KVK ,Sivasagar for the development of farmers in the district.

In the meeting scientists of KVK, Sivasagar, Arunima Bharali, SMS (Plant Protection), Trishlee Saikia, SMS (Agriculture Economics), yanmoni Buragohain, SMS (Horticulture), Priyanka Dutta, SMS (Agronomy) and Dr. Debajit Deka, SMS (Animal Science) were also present. Around 64 farmers hailing from various villages under Gaurisagar and Amguri Development Block took part in the programme and exchanged views with the scientists and department officials and discussed various grievances faced by them in the field of agriculture. The farmers lauded the effort of KVK for organizing farmers-scientist interaction meet.
