‘Farmers to get tractors, other benefits by March, 2019’

JORHAT, July 4: “All beneficiary farmers from Sadiya to Dhubri will get their tractors, implements and farming accessories at zero per cent interest rate by March, 2019,” said State Finance Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma during the Mukhya Mantri Samagra Gramya Yojana programme organized by district administration and district agriculture department at the District Library Pitambor Dev Goswami auditorium on Wednesday.

Sarma handed over keys of tractors to several self-help groups from Jorhat, Dergaon, Teok, Titabor and Mariani in presence of Jorhat Lok Sabha MP Kamakhya Prasad Tasa, Dergaon MLA Bhaben Bharali, Jorhat Deputy Commissioner Narayan Konwar, Jorhat Superintendent of Police Vaibhav Nimbalkar, Jorhat district BJP president Santanu Pujari and senior officials of the State Agriculture department.

Under Asom Adarsha Gaon Scheme, two villages from each Legislative Assembly constituency will be adopted and with expenditure of Rs 5 crore, facilities like drinking water, electricity, health, sanitation, education and agriculture, will be provided, said Sarma. Every department has been asked to reach out to the villagers for their grassroots assessment of the implementation of the scheme, said the minister.
