Fast-unto-death by CSMSS activists in Jorhat

JORHAT, April 29: Activists of the Cha Sramik Mukti Sangram Samiti (CSMSS) launched an indefinite fast-unto-death in front of the Block Development Office (BDO) under Bagchung Block of Jorhat from Wednesday in protest against the alleged iction of the BDO’s office in tackling large-scale corruption in various government schemes like allotment of IAY (Indira Awaas Yoza) houses, Old Age Pension, Widow Pension, MGNREGA and a host of others.

Incidentally, the CSMSS had on  November 17, 2014 and again on  April 24, 2015 protested in front of the BDO’s office at Bagchung demanding proper evaluation of government schemes, allotment and screening of the list of beneficiaries especially in 73 and 74 village panchayats of Thengal Khongia Tea Garden and South Thengal Khongia Tea Garden, but in vain.

As a result, the CSMSS had to take the decision of indefinite fast-unto-death and have threatened to continue with the fast until the fulfillment of its demand. Till the filing of the report, CSMSS activists were still continuing with the fast despite heavy rainfall in the evening in Jorhat.
