FBBWAA slams Modi government for 'caste politics'

MARGHERITA, February 1: Federation of Barua Buddhist Welfare Association of Assam (FBBWAA) secretary general Sibu Talukdar has slammed the Modi government for indulging in ‘caste politics’.

He alleged that Union HRD Minister Smriti Irani, Union Minister for Labour and Employment Bandaru Dattatreya and University of Hyderabad Vice-Chancellor Podile Appa Rao were responsible for the suicide of PhD scholar and Ambedkar Students’ Association activist Rohith Vemula on January 17.  Talukdar said that Rohith Vemula raised his voice against caste politics and discrimition towards Dalit students and the two Union Ministers allegedly put pressure on University of Hyderabad Vice Chancellor Podile Appa Rao to suspend Rohith Vemula along with four other students, which compelled Vemula to commit suicide.Talukdar said that Prime Minister rendra Modi should take strict action and sack the trio and the Central Government should follow the Indian Constitution properly, which Dr BR Ambedkar had written.
