GUWAHATI, June 21: FC Green Valley ensured quarter fil berth in the Assam State Premier League soccer tourment (ASPL) defeating Guwahati FC in the seventh round match held at the Nehru stadium here today. The fate of the game was decided by a solitary goal which was scored by Michael Lucky Kelechukwa.

It was the sixth consecutive victory for FC Green Valley in the championship. The side altogether collected 19 points from their seven matches and remained top of the table. On the other hand Guwahati FC also played seven matches in the tourment and earned eight points. However the defeat in today's game made Guwahati FC's job, to earn a berth in the knock out stage, little difficult as the team will now play all their remaining league matches in the opponens ground.

The match between FC Green Valley and Guwahati FC was a dull encounter and most of the time ball moved around the centre line. After the barren first half there was no change in the game during the initial stage of the second half also. However at the fag end of the game FC Green Valley showed little urgency to break the dead lock and made some raids to the opponent goal. The only goal of the match came during one such raid. The game was 81 minutes old when Jagjit Singh's long pass was received by Michael Lucky Kelechukwa near the opponent box and he then dribbled past two defenders before put the ball inside the net with a ground shot. Guwahati FC came close twice to score but in both the occasions the ball returned hitting the bar.

Meanwhile in another game at Gossaigaon Baarhoongkha AC defeated Global FC by  3-2.
