FC Utrecht stun PSV to go through in Dutch Cup

Eindhoven, Feb 5: FC Utrecht caused an upset in the quarter-fils of the Dutch Cup football tourment beating PSV Eindhoven 3-1. PSV’s new signing Marco van Ginkel, who arrived on loan from Chelsea and started as replacement for injured Andres Guardado, had the first chance of the match, but the visitors took control afterwards on Thursday, reports Xinhua.

Bart Ramselaar opened the scoring for Utrecht in the 32nd minute. Sebastien Haller produced the second Utrecht goal four minutes from half-time.

In the second half, Utrecht continued to outclass PSV and went 3-0 up with Ramselaar scoring again.

The home-team pulled one back through Hector Moreno, but did not come closer.

Last Tuesday AZ Alkmaar were the first to book a semi-fil berth by beating amateur side HHC Hardenberg 1-0, while on Wednesday another amateur side VVSB from Noordwijkerhout shocked first division side FC Den Bosch by coming back from 0-2 behind to win 3-2 in the fil minutes.

Feyenoord, which lost their last five league matches in a row, solved their crisis by beating Roda JC 1-0 in Kerkrade after extra time on Wednesday. Defender Eric Botteghin headed in the winning goal. IANS
