MANGALDAI: "If a super hit film like Lagaan can be made on a lesser known, yet glorious episode of the history of the freedom struggle of India, definitely a feature film on the historic peasants uprising at Pothorughat in Assam on January 28, 1894 and on the supreme sacrifice of 140 village farmers can be made by a director of repute and it will be the best way to take this historic yet neglected chapter to the national level and to offer gratitude and honour to these 140 unsung Krishak Swahids. I am going to discuss this with a director of repute," said Additional Chief Secretary Kumar Sanjay Krishna while taking part in an informal discussion with the media persons of Mangaldai on Monday afternoon.

The Additional Chief Secretary, holding the charge of Home, Information and Public Relations, Revenue and Disaster Management, on Monday visited the char areas of the district and later held discussion with the officials of the district administration, revenue and police in the conference hall of the Deputy Commissioner's office. He was accompanied by Officer on Special Duty of Information and Public Relations, Rajib Prakash Barua. During his discussion with the media persons, he also assured to make a documentary on Pothorughat and to arrange for the celebration of the Krishak Swahid Divas in the schools of the State on January 28 every year without affecting the classes so that the younger generation could realize the significance of the supreme sacrifice of the Krishak Swahids.

Talking on the initiative of the State Government towards fulfilling the long-felt demands of the journalists of the State, the visiting Additional Chief Secretary apprised the media persons on the measures taken up by the government.
