Female drug peddlers arrested by Golaghat Police, Drugs and cash recovered

GOALGHAT: After several demands and protests against drugs smuggling in Golaghat, the Golaghat Police carried out operation against drugs peddlers. On Wednesday, on the basis of specific information, police arrested three women drug peddlers from Furkating area for their involvement in selling and running the drug business.

The women are identified as Mirfa Begum, Hasma Begum and Mubhfina Begum. The Deputy Superintendent of Police, Partha Protim Saikia said the arrested women are to be interrogated for more information. Further, he said that police seized 2 kg of cannabis (ganja), 0.08 gram of brown sugar, cash Rs 59, 000, two motorcycles, 10 mobile handsets and 30 non-judicial stamp papers from their procession. The drugs were supplied from Dimapur by train through Bokajan, Silanijan, Barpathar and distributed by the local peddlers. To root out the drug peddlers completely, the public should support and cooperate with the police, said the DSP.
